Wills, Trusts, Estates and Personal Planning Department

Our trusts and estates department provides a broad range of tax and financial planning
services and represents clients in the administration and management of personal trusts
and estates. Some examples of the services performed by our trusts and estates
department include:

Comprehensive planning for a wide variety of clients ranging from those with modest
estates to those with estates in excess of $1,000,000,000, including the structuring and preparation of wills and trusts, family partnerships, limited liability companies and other arrangements designed to facilitate our clients’ goals of protecting, managing and transferring their assets.

Advice on lifetime giving programs and on a large number of trust and tax planning techniques, such as charitable remainder and lead trusts, the creation and IRS approval of tax exempt organizations, various forms of grantor and “living” trusts and irrevocable life insurance trusts, among others.

Assisting many of our entrepreneurial clients in structuring their business interests and succession planning. By using buy-sell agreements, insurance, family limited partnerships, estate freezes, trusts and other techniques, we have helped them minimize the extent of transfer and income taxation and provide effectively for the transfer of control of business interests through gifts or on death or retirement.

Representing individual and corporate executors, trustees and beneficiaries of wills and trusts in all matters of estate and trust administration, including tax audits and U.S. Tax Court proceedings.

Representing clients in litigation relating to estates and trusts, including a number of recent high profile litigations.
